Europan Cooperation
Network of Excellence within the scope
of "Food Quality and Safety"
Invitation
for taking part in a Network of Excellence
With reference to the proposition
of European Commission, the National Research Institute of Animal Production
would like to initiate the creation of a Network of Excellence within
the scope of "Food Quality and Safety".
Taking into account our relations having been established
so far, as well as your achievements, we let ourselves to run your organization
as equal venture's participant mentioned above.
You will find preliminary guidelines in the description
joint here after. We apologize for the urgent course of action, but we
are forced by the EC's deadline. Positive answer of the EC will create
an opportunity of broader and deeper discussing of all aspects of the
activity as well as the network's status.
You are kindly requested to confirm
your participation in the issue.
Yours faithfully,
Prof. dr hab. Jędrzej Krupiński
Director of the Institute

ABSTRACT
We are interested
in developing methods for sustained development of animal production to
ensure high quality and safe foods that are at the same time environmentally
friendly.
The research activities will take advantage of genetics
and new methods of reproductive biotechnology such as cloning and semen
sexing in association with nutritional, environmental and economic aspects.
The focus of the nutritional studies will be on the
development of standards satisfying the natural requirements of different
animal species based on plant feeds. Issues relating to animal welfare
and elimination of the negative effects of breeding farms on the natural
environment will be dealt with in view of the economic consequences. The
achievement of the planned objectives will be accelerated by the cooperation
of teams having different views on these issues and different research
experiences.
NEED & RELEVANCE
Wytyczenie kierunków zrównoważonego
rozwoju produkcji zwierzęcej jest jednym z warunków poprawy jakości i
bezpieczeństwa żywności oraz zachowania niezmienionego środowiska naturalnego.
W zakresie podejmowanych działań należy rozpatrywać zarówno podstawowe
aspekty genetyczne, żywieniowe, środowiskowe, jak i ekonomiczne. Opracowanie
wzorców rozpocząć należy od wykorzystania metod genetyki populacji, genetyki
molekularnej i biotechnologii. Następnym krokiem winno być zastosowanie
biotechnologicznych metod sterowania rozrodem. Należy przy tym zadbać
o zachowanie bioróżnorodności ras zwierząt gospodarskich. Podstawę
sukcesu w dążeniu do bezpieczeństwa uzyskiwanych produktów musi stanowić
odpowiednie żywienie, prowadzone w zgodzie z naturalnymi potrzebami
